Body Essentials by Cilla
owner Cilla Marsden said she
felt “shocked and violated” when
she found her salon in a mess on
“They must have used a jemmy
bar on the front door to get in,” she
“The photos only show a small
part of the mess that was made.
“The thieves stole thousands
of dollars’ worth of Ella Bache,
Bodyography, and Poni products,
stage makeup, makeup brushes and
OPI nail products.
“It is lucky I have insurance.”
Mrs Marsden said it was the first
time her salon had been targeted.
“I was upset, but now I just feel
angry,” she said.
“My little girl started school for
the first time (yesterday) and the
break-in was the last thing I wanted
to think about.
“It took my friends and I about
12 hours to clean up the mess.
“The police told me Jarahs Hair
was broken into as well and they
believe it was the same people.
“I hope they catch them and that
what goes around comes around.”
Jarahs Hair owner Maria Vaughan
said surveillance cameras at her
premises were working at the time
of the break-in.
“It is sad because we only
reopened our newly renovated Berri
salon last Tuesday,” she said.
“The intruder(s) entered through
the back area and did not appear to
enter the salon (area).
“They stole about $3000 worth
of hair tools, including GHD hair
“Because we have just shifted
the Loxton salon to Berri, we had
not unpacked anything yet, so they
walked on top of boxes breaking
them and their contents.”
Mrs Vaughan said her salon had
been a target of crime previously.
“That is why we have the
cameras,” she said.
“After this incident we plan to
upgrade and have an even better
level of security.
“I think whoever is behind this
needs help mentally.
“I am angry, but I also feel for
these desperate people and I am
glad I am not in their situation.”
Murray Mallee Superintendent
James Blandford encouraged
other businesses to install security
“Good quality CCTV footage
gives us an opportunity to have
another line of inquiry to find the
offender – potentially saving future
victims,” he said.
“The salon break-ins are part of
an ongoing investigation.
“We will certainly use the footage
from Jarahs, and anywhere else we
can get it, to assist in an arrest.
“The camera doesn’t lie and helps
us to prove the case in court.”
