Date change for local council meetings
TWO Riverland councils will hold
their ordinary meetings a week
early this month.
Berri Barmera and Renmark
Paringa Councils will hold their
monthly meetings on Tuesday, April
18, due to the Anzac Day public

meeting at the council chambers,
Wilson Street, Berri from 5.45pm,
while Renmark Paringa will hold
its meeting at the Renmark Paringa
Community and Civic Centre,

THE future of the Berri Club is
looking positive, according to the
new manager and secretary.
Earlier this year, former small
business owner and Monash resi-
dent Sue Yabsley joined the Berri
Club board as a volunteer but has
since taken up the role of man-

Pioneer this week, Ms Yabsley
said a special general meeting,
open to the public, would be held
tomorrow to plan for the future of
“We’re inviting members and
guests (members’ family and
friends),” she said.
“The meeting will be to advise
everybody on the way forward
of the club and what we have
planned. Then we can take it
Tomorrow’s meeting will
include presentations from a con-
sulting company, to be voted on
by current financial members.
An election will also be called
to appoint the board and support-
ing committee members.
Ms Yabsley said recent inter-
nal changes within the club had
showed improvements in trading.
The club has changed opening
hours to Thursdays through to
Sundays, however will still open
for Palms Bingo on Tuesdays.
“We have had to readjust our
trading hours to suit what people
who are actually coming in and
supporting the club want,” Ms
“And that seems to be working
well for us at this time.”
The special general meeting
will be held at the club from 2pm
to 4pm tomorrow.
