in pennant final
BERRI and Waikerie will face
off in the Bowls Riverland
Saturday pennants division one
grand final this Saturday after
both won through over a busy
weekend of finals action.
In the second semi-final on
Saturday, Berri won straight
through to the grand final with
a 12-shot win over Renmark.
A 13-shot win to Andrew
Hill’s rink and a seven-shot
win by Andy Gapco’s rink
helped Berri seal the win and
a berth in another grand final.
In the first semi-final
Waikerie registered a com-
fortable 21-shot win over
Despite dropping one rink,
Waikerie proved too strong
on the other three as it moved
through to the preliminary

Sunday, with Waikerie beating
Renmark by 13 shots.
In a tight match-up,

the division two decider.
In division three, Waikerie
Blue and Berri Red will fight
it out on Saturday for a spot in
the grand final against Loxton
Gold on Sunday.

Busy time for local sailors
OVER the weekend two Lake Bonney
Yacht Club Mosquito sailors travelled to
Somerton Yacht Club, in Adelaide, for
the State Mosquito Championships, with
both coming home with strong results.
Steve Thomas aboard ‘Cat-titude’
won the series and now holds the State
Mosquito Mark 1 Championship title.
Peter Dunk and Kirsten Thomas
aboard ‘6th Element’ were beaten for
first place on a count-back consequent-
ly taking second place in the Mosquito
Mark 2 division.
In local competition on Saturday, re-
sails of championship and handicap races
were held at the Lake Bonney Yacht Club
and the results were the same for both
re-sail races, even when calculated on

category, Mark Pfennig took the honours
aboard ‘The Matrix’.
The standouts in the division two
Misc Monohulls category were Ellyn
and Belinda Cale who came in first
aboard ‘1st Tern’, while Josh Ridley and
Lachlan Huser finished second aboard
On Saturday, February 18, the Lake
Bonney Yacht Club held Championship
Heat 6 in excellent sailing conditions.

Thomas came in second aboard ‘Cat-
titude’ and Kirsten Thomas was third
aboard ‘Shore Leave’.
The division two winners in the Misc
Monohulls category were Josh Ridley
and Lachlan Huser in ‘The Swag’, while
Ellyn and Belinda Cale came in second
aboard ‘1st Tern’.
DAY: Josh Kleinig
made 122 runs for
Monash B grade
on Saturday. The
score was Kleinig’s
highest ever and
his first century.

to win the game by
a whopping 267
